POLLSITTER/PROMOTER

UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA STUDENTS’ SOCIETY

FUNCTION:

  1. Responsible for promoting, regulating, and maintaining the integrity of the Students’ Society balloting process.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. Reports to and is responsible to the General Manager through the Chief Electoral Office.

DUTIES:

  1. Supervising, transporting, and securing a UVSS computer and materials to assigned polling stations.
  2. Talking with students and encouraging them to vote.
  3. Answering questions impartially and directing students to where they can obtain more information.
  4. Maintaining contact with the electoral officers and reporting any discrepancies in the electoral process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be an active member in good standing of the University of Victoria Students’ Society.
  2. Punctuality and reliability are required.
  3. The ability to follow instructions and rules.
  4. The ability to be responsible under sensitive conditions.
  5. The ability to work alone.
  6. The ability to approach groups of individuals and engage in conversation.

This is a temporary, hourly waged, union position.
